Monica Hammond

Monica Hammond is Vice President, Business Government Customer  Operations for Verizon Business Group. As a member of the senior leadership team, Monica oversees the customer experience for Verizon’s $12B wireless and IOT services. She leads a large global operations team that provides the wireless support and solutions for  Global Enterprise, Public Sector, and small-to-medium business customers. Monica is responsible for developing strategies and implementing customer experience solutions that transform operations through digital technology, culture and processes to deliver business-based outcomes. As an accomplished and dynamic leader, she is responsible for  advancing organizational strategy, driving industry-leading results and strengthening  internal alliances in support of a world-class customer experience. Before assuming her  current position, Monica was Executive Director of Center and Online Operations for  Verizon Enterprise Solutions (VES), with responsibility for the day-to-day global operation  of the Operation Service Centers for our commercial wireline business. 

As a key strategic contributor, her vision and expertise in business performance has driven  notable customer experience improvements in Verizon and the technology sectors. She  brings valuable insight and knowledge regarding both leadership and management  challenges faced by growing companies and brands. 

Corporate and Philanthropic Leadership 

Monica’s distinctive ability to inspire leadership capability in others is rooted in her strong  drive and commitment to the betterment of both women in business and young girls. As  creator and sponsor of Women of Influence, a program designed to empower women  within Verizon, she provides the opportunity for participants to unlock their own leadership  potential that sets them on a course for continued success. Monica sits on the Board of  Directors as Vice Chair for Envision Lead Grow, a non-profit organization dedicated to  breaking the cycle of poverty by sharing the power of entrepreneurship with girls and  young women. 

In 2020, Monica was awarded the National Association of Female Executives (NAFE)  Women of Excellence Community Champion Award for her achievements and  contributions. She also proudly serves on the Board of Directors of the Greater  Washington Urban League, whose mission is to increase the economic and political  empowerment of historically vulnerable and diverse populations. 

Educational and Personal Background 

Monica holds a Master of Arts degree from Bowie State University and is a proud alumnus  of Virginia State University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree. She is a proud  member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She and her husband are the proud parents of  two children.
